One of the questions with Richard Sherman joining the San Francisco 49ers was what number he would be wearing. A few days ago he was signed with the team where he  chose the number 25.

Shortly after signing with 49ers, he was fitted for a helmet, which he liked so much, he wore it out the facility. That helmet had the number 25 on the back of it.

All along 25 was the most likely number for him considering that’s what he wore in Seattle.

It wasn’t a given though.

The most important reason is that Richard Sherman's son was born thursday morning on February 5, which dovetails nicely with his jersey number.

There were a few numbers in play here. He wore number 4 at Manuel Dominguez High School. He wore number 9 at Stanford University.
